MicroLCS has a graphical user interface that is clean, consistent and simple.
Instead of presenting you with a bewildering array of hard to learn
features and search options, you get exactly the tools you need when you need them.
Basic features are always present in the "control panel" along
the bottom of the screen while search results and tools that pertain to a
particular task appear in the "work area" in the
remainder of the screen.
Searching is easy in MicroLCS. Just select the index you wish to search on,
enter your keywords and click on the Find button. Advanced searches are done
using the same interface with a very powerful and easy to learn search syntax that supports full
boolean searching. There is no "basic - advanced" user dichotomy. Although
staff can have access to more functions (such as database maintenance), both library staff and patrons interact
with the system using the same user interface.
